The man behind Protector Aluminium, Darryl Cardell, isn't one to boast about his achievements. But when you mention the impressive transformation of Protector Aluminium from a one-man show in a shed, to a significant player in the pool fencing business, he cracks a smile.

If you've built a pool in the Gold Coast, Brisbane or the Sunshine Coast in the past decade, there is every chance you have a Protector Aluminium product surrounding it.

Protector Aluminium only supplies to retail stores or fencing contractors.

Protector Aluminium's products include aluminium fencing and gates in standard and non standard built designs, as well as the current high fashion  glass pool fencing.

We are now located in a brand new multi-million purpose built premises at Kunda Park on the Sunshine Coast, but it's been a long hard slog to get here.

Darryl started working as a fencing contractor almost 20 years ago. In 1996 he was building tennis courts on the Gold Coast, and later laying synthetic turf at homes and resorts throughout Queensland.

In 1991, the Queensland Government passed laws to make pool fences compulsory, and when Darryl moved to the Sunshine Coast several years later, he realised that there was a demand for the product that was not being met. He spent the next 6 weeks researching the viability of setting up his own business, in the end he decided to take the plunge..

PROTECTOR ALUMINIUM WAS BORN

For the first 12 months Darryl worked on his own with his trusty dog keeping him company in the work site at Kunda Park . He was the receptionist, the welder, the cleaner and the delivery person. Since then, the business has experienced steady growth. Darryl employed several people and quickly outgrew his original modest premises. He enlisted the help of a few friends to build a bigger and better structure but it was not long before that was again bursting at the seams.

The new premises at Kunda Park is 3000 square metres and features state-of-the-art automated powder coating machines. With everything being under one roof, Protector Aluminium has now become a dominant supplier in the area.

In the past 5 year's Protector Aluminium's work force has more then doubled with 35 employees employed allyear. The turnover of the business has grown more then 300% in that time.
